These pages are dedicated to my squares of Amsterdam project, which is to photograph all squares of Amsterdam.

By filling out (part of) a postal code or name in the form above, a list of matching names is displayed. The ones that have already pictures are clickable. This is a long-term project as there are over 200 squares in Amsterdam..
On this index page you'll see the latest, most recent 10 additions to the project.
The captions are in dutch.
Thumbnails are 100x100 in size and are cut-outs from the larger pictures, which are generally 750x500 and fairly large in size (appr. 100kB).

For an experimental interactive map, click here (javascript popup window). On the map you can click on a neighbourhood, and the list of squares will be presented in this window.

Definition

For this project, I have 'limited' myself to those streetnames that have the word 'plein' (dutch for square) in them, and which are listed in the postal-code book. This explains why for instance the famous Dam square is not listed: it is not a 'plein' by my definition.
